Today I encountered a lady who when conversing about Champagne, asked me wide eyed, “Which country is champagne in?”
Her male colleague answered with a smirk a la Bruce Willis the Hollywood “Die hard” star, “France!”
Yes, a lot of people need to learn more about wine. Here, in sunny Singapore, most know only wines from Australia and those from Bordeaux. Their only yardstick, sadly, is how expensive is it? The more expensive, to their mind, the better. Those with real knowledge know that this is not always true.
