Thanksgiving and The Palm Dubai

Thanksgivng is always close to my heart becaus emy birthday is always around that time, and sometimes it even fall on Thanksgiving Day. This year it was 22 November. Great food and camaraderie at my friend’s house made my day. i learned a Persian recipe of whole garlic cloves in apple cider vinegar with brown sugar steeped in a jar for at least 2 years. I learned too that the longer, the better, and that in Iran, the 10 year old pickled garlic is the best, as it is terrifically tender inside.

On a more dire note, reliable sources (who shall be nameless) inform me that Dubai’s prestigious and avant garde The Palm islands is suffering problems of stagnant water and the islands, which are man made, are sinking, literally This, after all of the projects have been sold out, with many given away as expensive gifts…I am glad I didn’t  buy one of the US$1 million houses there. Yes, and there are wores too, with the aircon compressor units for the houses whch blast hot air at their neighbours, and make too much noise when in operation to boot. Es is Schadenfreude fuer alles die Dubai nicht mag oder? C’est la vie, mon ami!
Happy Thanksgiving!
