MORNING found me jogging in the East Coast. I was happy to meet a lovely dog called Ludwig. He is 9 years old and a golden Labardor.
I love dogs.
They are infinitely more loyal, more lovable, more trustworthy and more worthy of love than many human beings, for eg. Hitler, Mao & Pol Pot, just to give three examples. They do not scold or criticize you but they give you their true love.
No wonder J. Edgar Hoover always said: The more I see of some people, the more I like my dogs better.
He knew, because in his line of work he had to deal with a lot of very nasty people, like Machine Gun Kelly and John Dillinger.
Here is a poem to my good friend.
His name was Bond..James Bond and he was a pedigree golden Cocker Spaniel.
Ode to my golden friend
I loved you
in my heart
and in my mind
you never ever hurt me
not even once
I will always always love you
your happy smile made me
glad when I was sad
your wagging tail
made me laugh
when skies were black
when fair weather ‘friends’
deserted me
you were always there for me
with your brave and good heart
I will never forget you
may the Lord Buddha bless you
and may you have a
very happy and healthy life
when you are reborn
you will always be with me
in spirit
I will always love you
my golden friend
and you will always
be by my side
Recently, my friend, Nobel Prize Laureate Prof Wole Soyinka read my poem and liked it. He told me, "It’s very nice, very emotional." Wole won the Bobel Prize for Literature in 1986.
Happy Chinese New Year of the Golden Tiger and Happy Valentine’s Day too on 14 February 2010!
