Red Sun!

Tawandang – The House of the Red Sun

MAKING time for my good friend, HE Khun Nopadol the Ambassador of the Royal Kingdom of Thailand to Singapore is always a pleasure.

Yesterday evening at a special dinner for special guests and friends of the Royal Thai Embassy, the superb seafood at Tawandang Restaurant in UDMC Center, East Coast Park was deliciously memorable! Course after exquisite course came and they all had the 4 classic Thai flavours, namely, sweet, salty, spicy and sour! Thais like their flavour quadrant very intense but I found they had been slightly toned down for Singaporean tastes.

I checked out the kitchen discreetly to see over 8 Thai Chefs cooking furiously while a lady XChef wsas doing the mise-en-place.

With everything was Thai Hom mali rice, perfect long grains of delightful taste. Beware of imposters! Now with globalisation, so-called jasmine rice comes from a neighbouring country. ONLY Thai Hom Mali rice is the real thing with the real good taste…..

The next instalment very soon…{J}
