MOSCATO di Trani DOC ESTASI single estate Passito is the most delightful wine I have tasted when I visited Wines For Asia 2011 today, on Friday 28 October 2011. It is lovingly made by my friend Franco di Filippo, one of the nicest gentlemen you could ever meet. I first met him some years ago when I was the Official Journalist & Consultant to the 1st Grand Gourmet Summit in Dubai, U.A.E. The grape variety Moscato Reale di Trani to give it its full name is the oldest DOC grape variety in Puglia which is the ‘heel’ of Italy. Venetians were trading this wine way back in 1000 AD! Now it has been crafted into an amazing dessert wine that is also good for seafood like lobster and fresh oysters and foie gras!
