Winsome WGS 2012!

The irrepressible Travelling Gourmet goes to Universal Studios on the island of Sentosa to discover…
MEAT, especially delicious Australian Beef and Lamb was in abundance on Monday, 23 April, 2012 at the Opening Reception of the 16th Edition of the WGS in Singapore. This was due to the generosity of Australian Beef & Lamb, the premium Meat Partner. It was a posh red carpet affair and the venue was New York Street of USS. Sparkling wine from Russia, German wine, Tiger Beer, San Pellegrino Chinotto, Pampelmo, Arancia Rosso, Connex Coffee and more, flowed like the River Galilee.
Masterchefs of the world unite, you have nothing to lose but your frying pans!
Many celebrated Master Chefs were there and I met up with mon ami 3 Michelin Starred Bruno Menard and jolly & eccentric Fergus Henderson from London.

RWS Pastry Chef Kenny Kong, a good friend served up some really colourful and irresistable SWEET Tempations! The Mezza 9 chefs made molecular gastronomy Meringue with dry ice and lots of smoke a la Harry Potter!
It was simply delightful to quaff Abrau-Durso Imperial Vintage Brut sparkling wine, less aggressive on the attack and less intense lemony flavours than French champagne, this Russian ‘sparkler’ went well nonetheless with the Salmon tartare and caviar!
Strolling down New York Street was very convivial, and I found a nice table in the VIP section next to the jazz band to enjoy dinner with C, a good friend. Mel’s delectable Dinettes also performed some really eye catching Rock and Roll numbers to loud applause.
Ravishing…
Delightful…
As I tucked into Blanched Beef with delicate Ramen in Cheng Tong (Cantonese claear soup), the jazz band played “Mack the Knife’ or to give it its proper name, “Die Moritat von Mackie Messer” at my request.
