The inimitable Travelling Gourmet goes to a modern Bistro in Marina Bay Sands to taste…
MEATY Duck Terrine 15mm thick with green salad and warm sourdough and rye bread, velvety Soupe au Tomat (Tomato soup) that is not too sour, are both really nice. This modern bistro-brasserie with white balloon shaped lamps and maroon leather booth seats has a convivial ambience and is popular with families and courting couples.
Pork Schnitzel had two big pieces in a crispy batter with thick julienne of Sauerkraut with Juniper berries and glazed potato with a tasty Charcuterie Sauce. I had this with a red, Chateau Mas Neuf 2005 with spice and oak plus fruits of the forest. My partner had Poached Skate Meuniere with crushed mash potato spiked with wild asparagus & Grenoloise Sauce, green lentils and pine nuts A nice aromacity when matched with a white wine..minerally Luc Saint-Roche 2010. Portions here are generous & man-sized!
Delightful Dessert!
Baba au Rhum was intoxicatingly good with fresh mango brunoise and kixi seeds. Tout Chocolat was actually a variation of Moelleux au Chocolat with really sexy, gooey “liquide chocolat” oozing out as you put your spoon in…
Slim & fit Chef Stephane Istel presented me with a bowl of super-cute Madeleines dusted with icing sugar and an alsaciene specialtie od Gateau St. Tropez. The sinfully rich gateau is sprinkled with coconut flakes and has sponge layers encasing LASHINGS of vanilla creme anglais (custard) dotted with tiny fragrant vanilla seeds. Soooo.YUMMY!
Bon appetit!
