The indomitable Travelling Gourmet savours Chef Lee Bennett’s

MODERN European cuisine in Equinox on top of Swissotel The Stamford. The view is really nice…and so is Whole Grilled Maine Lobster, all 750g of sweet slightly crunchy and juicy meat with Wilted Spinach and sexy, luscious, creamy Bearnaise Sauce. Excellent with champagne! Lobster crackers and lobster forks plus finger bowls are thoughtfully provided.

Spectacular views from 261 meters up are a bonus when you dine here.  I checked with my personal altimeter from Switzerland. From ground level to level 70, it takes only 53.7 seconds in the high speed lift. I timed it with my Breitling chronometer.

I also like Grain-fed Angus Rib of Angus Beef with sauteed Green Beans, Pomme Dauphinoise, Wild Mushroms and spicy Pepper Sauce.

Mahen, the Dining Executive from Ipoh in Malaysia, is very good at service. I observed him pouring the Moet & Chandon Brut Imperial champagne for me perfectly, holding the bottle correctly like a trained Sommelier. He told me his brother is a Sommelier in Marina Bay Sands and had taught him.

Chef Lee’s Grand Assiette of desserts is a must-try! Served on a long rectangular Revol plate, it will satisfy your sweet cravings. Raspberry Mousse, Lamponi Compote (raspberry), Panna Cotta, Warm Chocolate Tart & more. If I had $1 for every dessert I have tried, I would be very wealthy now.

The creamy Creme Brulee Flambe is outstanding! Flambeed with Vanilla Liquer, the spectacular turquoise & orange flames finish the crust off and add more flavour. A sweet, delicately brittle caramel tuille-like crust on top gives a most satisfying crunch when you bite in…

However, Chef Lee is going back to England and so there’ll be a new Chef with a new Menu…
