The intrepid Travelling Gourmet goes to the Top Italian Wines Gambero Rosso Roadshow 2013 in sunny Singapore and tastes…
MAGICAL and most extraordinary il “Vino della pace”. Translated from the Italian, it means the ‘Wine of Peace’. From vineyards along the River Isonzo open to the meso-climate of the Adriatic sea comes a wine from the Vineyard of the World. This unique wine is a blend of not one, not two, not three, but…848 different grape varietals!!! Pancho Tinto, Schwarze Traube, Koshu 4N, Espadeiro, and Brancelino are but a few of the different grapes used to make this wine. Molto bellisimma Lucia Fontana of Cantina Produttori Cormons let me taste the wine, redolent with the colour of yellow gold. With trembling fingers I raised the glass to my lips and sipped…WILD HONEY, ACACIA FLOWERS, MINERALS plus lovely fresh acidity was sheer ecstacy! The wine is as ravishing as the fair & bright Lucia with her soft & silky blond hair, aquiline nose and classic Roman features.
I have no hesitation to award this wine The Travelling Gourmet’s Most Fascinating Wine Award for March 2013!
