Without Sifu Loh will the Char Koay Teow taste the same…

Story & photos by Dr. Michael Lim The Travelling GourmetTM

The implacable Travelling Goumet tells you about the momentous happenings in King’s Hotel…

MANY highly reliable sources have informed The Travelling GourmetTM that famous Penang cuisine Chef Loh Hong Chye has left the King’s Hotel after 10 years due to…irreconciliable differences…I know, but I shall not reveal the parties involved. How do you know these things? I am always asked this. The answer is as The Travelling Gourmet: WE have our ways…

Will the famous Penang Food Buffet in Princes Terrace be the same without my good friend, Chef Loh frying up the Char Koay Teow on very high heat with lots & lots of big crunchy prawns??? Officially, it is business as usual and the No. 2 Chef is serving up the same goodies…Is this true or it is a PR (Public Relations) spin…
However, it is well known to afficionados of Kungfu movies that: the Master or Sifu NEVER ever reveals all the deadly aces up his sleeve…in other words never reveals his top secret recipes…

Also every Chef worth his salt & pepper tastes every dish before serving. With a different Chef, the palate is simply not the same. C’est la vie et c’est le monde…

Many top 5 star hotels are already tryng to employ Chef Loh to do their version of authentic Penang cuisine…
