Beware of imposters

MEMORABLE Robert Louis Stevenson wrote in his famed book, ‘Black Arrow‘. This new and very action packed movie which I saw tonight called ‘Now you see me…’ sees the villains getting black arrows in their black hearts…metaphorically I must add. It is 21st Century Robin Hood and his merry Four Horsemen (instead of merry men in Sherwood Forest) outwitting and ultimately triumphant over the FBI task force assigned to arrest them. These devil may care Magicians use their elaborate illusions a la ‘Mission Impossible’ to make the baddies pay in lots of $$$$$ to their innocent victims. It always pleases me when bad people get what they so richly deserve!

With Iraq War combat veteran, Tim Clemente, who is also a former FBI SAC of the HRT and Counter-Terrorism expert, as the consultant, the techniques and even the way the FBI Special Agents hold their Sig Sauer P226 .40 caliber pistols is authentic. The hero Rhodes, is the atypical, scruffy beaded FBI G-Man, who of course falls in love finally with the rectangular faced but beautiful by French standards, blonde French Police Officer seconded to INTERPOL.

Blondie is played by Melanie Laurent and plays her role very well. After all, she was born in Paris, you can’t any more French than that! She has an oval scar just below her left eye 3mm long and some moles on  her neck and her chest below the collar bone…and very big eyes… Well, mes amis, nobody is perfect…I really like the big eyes though…:-)

Morgan Freeman is good too in his role as a TV show magician who is out to expose all the secrets of magicians. This of course does not endear him to the top secret Magicians’ secret society “The EYE of Horus”. They have ways to get their revenge…

I love the finale on the famous Parisienne Bridge, near the Notre Dame Cathedral. It is called Le Pont de l’Archevêché aka The Love Bridge. It reminded me of the other famous Brucke over the River Rhine in Koeln, Germany. All very romantic with padlocks galore…

This movie is awarded  “The Travelling Gourmet’s BEST Action Comedy Movie” of 2013! Music is by the London Philharmonic Orchaestra and David Copperfield is the Consultant Magician for the movie. Korean War veteran Michael Caine, although old and obese, is nevertheless very convincing in his role as one of the filthy rich bad guys…Filmed on location in Paris, New York, New Orleans, Las Vegas and the MGM Grand and Aria in LV, this action packed bullet train fast movie is sure to please fans of action comedies!
