The indomitable and resourceful Travelling Gourmet TM visits Strasbourg in Alsace and stays in…

MAGNIFICENT Cour du Corbeau whose past guests include the Tsar of Russia and Voltaire.

This 15th Century inn is right out of the The Three Musketeers”. I expected D’Artagan to leap out at any second with his razor sharp Rapier ready to do battle with the henchmen of the Cardinal de Richelieu! This one of the best hotels that I have ever stayed in.

Location wise it is in a very strategic place and near near the important tourist worthy sights like Strasbourg Cathedral. When I was there recently, it was just a hop, skip and jump to the Marche de Noel or Christmas Market. Although the exterior of this lovely historic hotel is very old and looks like a set of The Three Musketeers movie, the interior is all high-tech modern fittings in the most luxurious and comfortable decor imaginable. After all, this hotel is part of the Accor Memorable Gallery or M Gallery Collection, which is their equivalent of the Hilton’s Waldorf Astoria brand. The Cour du Corbeau is also just a 2 minute stroll to the River Ill. The River Ill that runs through Starsbourg feeds the mighty River Rhine. I stayed in their luxurious and magnificent suite which was most salubrious. Breakfast is also wonderful with eggs, cheeses, yoghurt, fruits and more!
