You can’t beat the ROSEBERY!

The intrepid and debonair Travelling Gourmet Dr. Michael Lim took the time to try the…

MANDARIN Oriental Hyde Park’s piece de resistance which is The Rosebery Tea Room. The Rosebery is simply spiffing for traditional English Afternoon Tea! Forget the Ritz, come here instead! When I was there recently, it was leading up to Christmas and the special Paddington Bear Afternoon Tea with Ruinart N V Champagne was available. Beautiful Scones with Clotted Cream and Home made Strawberry Jam, exquisite yummie Sushi-like rolled Sandwiches.

Afternoon Tea anyone…

Simply forget the Ritz because traditional English Afternoon Tea in the Rosebery Tea Lounge is to parachute deep behind enemy lines in Afghanistan for! Such an elegant, bright, inviting and warm decor! Feast in style!

Perfectly splendid sushi-like rolled sandwiches, scones and exquisite cakes with your choice of your favourite premium teas. I like Mi Lan Dan Cong Black Oolong Tea from the remote mountains of China and Heart of Persia Tea with Saffron.

Tuck into Slow Roasted Norfolk Bronze Turkey with Cranberry and Paddington Bear Honey Pot Pot with Pear and more like…Find your Teddy Brownie, Rolled Jam Sandwich with Candied Ginger, Green Tea Eclair with 24 Karat Gold Leaf on top, Portland Crab and Crayfish Fondue on Brioche Roll and lots more! OMG! Super Yummie! When I had the good fortune to dine there, the Rosebery offered a very special Paddington Bear Afternoon Tea with the famous bear from darkest Peru’s favourites. No prizes for guessing that delights with Paddington Bear’s favourite olde English Marmalade is on the menu! There is a also a full size Paddington Bear in the Lobby for you to donate generously to the NSPCC (National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children). The pretty and charming German Manageress Nicole is very nice and helpful too. I enjoyed speaking German to her. In the evenings it tranforms magically into a romantic Champagne and Wine Bar. Believe you me, the traditional Afternoon Tea is to parachute behind enemy lines in Syria for! The only other Afternoon Tea that comes close is at the Dorchester Hotel but that is another story. The Rosebery is named in honour of…

Archibald Primrose, 5th Earl of Rosebery, Liberal Prime Minister of the UK from 1894 to 1895.
Come here soon…you will NOT regret it. As Edith Piaf the Sparrow of Montmarte sang in her immortal song dedicated to La Legion Etrangere or French Foreign Legion: Je ne regrette rein!

The movie is very good!
