Rose…Esprit de Provence!

The intrepid and debonair Travelling Gourmet visits a remote part of sunny Singapore to taste…

MAGICAL Provence wines at an event organised by SOPEXA. Five Rose wines were imbibed with dishes from rustic New Ubin Seafood restaurant in an area surrounded by motor car repair work shops! There was also special Tomato Ciabatta with mild Huile d’Olive de La Riane Variete Aglandau – Extra Virginia Olive Oil from Provence.
The unusual feature was the hit and miss pairing NOT with European or French cuisine but instead with…kampong Singapore style delights like Crispy Fried Prawns and Lobster Bee Hood
That said…one can pair a lot of different goods with Rosès just like one can pair practically everything with Champagnes! I especially liked the Caramelized Brinjal aka Aubergine with its tantalising sweet salty and piquant flavours crunchy like a Marks& Spencer Potato Crisp!

To be continued…
