SPECTRE is coming and Belvedere too…

The indomitable and implacable Travelling Gourmet tells you about the newest player to jump on the Product Placement Advertising bandwagon of the James Bond 007…

MOVIES with the shortest and ugliest actor, wrinkly faced Daniel Craig playing the part of Bond…James Bond. Vodka always features in trademark Bond’s Martini shaken not stirred..which as any Bartender worth his salt knows is actually wrong, because the clarity of the cocktail is gone..It was created in Duke’s Hotel in London, one of Ian Fleming’s haunts…Never mind, for I digress. Belvedere the Polish Vodka is now going to play a role in SPECTRE, the latest James Bond movie to hit our screens soon at the end of 2015. Belvedere is good stuff, made with Rye from the Morovian Plains of Poland. I confess to a strange fondness for Vodka from Russia and Poland. I have less regard for Vodka from countries outside eastern Europe like Grey Goose that is made in France. I feel they are not so authentic but copycat Vodkas so to speak…The original Vodka was Smirnoff when the best actor to play 007, namely Sean Connery, was in the role of the gentleman spy and MI6 or SIS Intelligence Officer. To be pedantic, Bond is an Intelligence Officer and NOT an agent.

The other players of Bollinger Champagne and Heineken Beer are also featured in the movie currently filming on location in London, Austria and Mexico, just to name a few exotic locales…Product placement and COVERT advertising is rampant, especially in the 007 movie franchise. From Walther PPK pistols. Heckler Koch MP5 submachine guns and Brioni suits to Aston Martin and BMW cars and Omega watches…My nephew got his mum to buy him an Omega after watching Goldeneye so it works!

Connery’s very smooth and relaxed walk before he explodes into violent action…

CONTRAST that with Craig’s jumpy and jerky too much in a hurry ‘trot’…c’est terrible! Alas, no style…
