The irrepressible and irascible Travelling Gourmet TM checks out Cafedirect Fair Trade Americano Coffee capsules that are…wait for it…FULLY COMPATIBLE with Nespresso machines.
MAYBE I am being a trifle pessimistic but the thing I can forsee is that although it is a very innovative developement… the fact that Cafédirect Americano pods are priced at $8.90 for a pack of 10…means that the price difference between Cafedirect and the original Nespresso Coffee Capsules or pods is only $1 to $2. Unless there is a bigger price-point difference, I do not think it can capture a big share of the market…Well. never mind, for the consumer and die hard coffee connoisseur, the more choice the better. Anyway, as the Scots say: ‘many a mickle makes a muckle’, which translates as “every cent counts!”. Cafedirect pods are available at all FairPrice Xtra and FairPrice Finest outlets.
The coffee comprises 100% Arabica beans with an intensity of 8 out of 12. It is a 5:3 blend of Tanzanian and Mexican coffee. The African beans from Tanzania give nice fudge like notes to the flavour with hint sof caramel…while the Mexican beans give a round fleshy finish to the coffee. Enjoy the espresso without the overpowering caffeine punch of an “powderful” espresso. The Cafedirect’s Fairtrade business model gives back 50% of the profits to the coffee growers! Cafedirect is the UK’s largest award winning hot beverage company and was found to be the most recommended brand in a Milward Brown 2007 survey.
I like my coffee strong like my women…rich, voluptuous and keeps you up the whole night…OMG!
🙂
