The intrepid and implacable Travelling Gourmet TM drinks more wines and tastes…
MOUTHWATERING Italian specialities in the 50th Edition of Vinitaly…I tasted 4 fine wines earlier in the Doctor Wine area where there are 93 wines to taste. It was truly a joy to meet some dear friends. I liked the sparkling ruby red Lambrusco wine very much with its blackcurrants and blueberries flavours.
Last night I had a lovely Veal with Tuna Sauce for dinner…a classic.
Now after a nice hot cappuccino, I am off to do more tasting!
Wed 13 Aprile 2016
15:18 I’m back in the Press Centre and outside it is so HOT and sunny ! Almost like Singapore.
I went to taste Moletto wines and their new Spritzer which as a beautiful colour as well as Olive Oils and Pastries, Cookies and more Espresso coffee! Tasted too Castello Banfi wines with mio amico Rodolfo who is one of the top people with Castello Banfi for over 22 years! Very good, concentrated but fine soft tannins and well balanced wines! Just to mention one…Poggio AlleMura Brunello di Montalcino 2011 with ripe plums on the nose, round and fleshy too…simply beautiful!
I also went to have a Nardini Grappa Amaro Cocktail with my good friend, humourous Antonio Nardini! We shara the same love for man’s BEST friend, Dogs!
WINE IS BIG BUSINESS!!
Verona, 11 April 2016 – “Two years ago, we set ourselves the goal at Vinitaly of achieving 7.5 billion euros of wine exports by 2020 of 50 billion euros in the overall agro-food sector. The figure then was 30 billion euros and today we have moved up to 36.9 billions: the respective figures for wine are 4.9 billion and 5.4 billion euros: we can do it. Agriculture Minister Maurizio Martina is in the front line in this direction.”
So said the Prime Minister, Matteo Renzi, during his visit on the second day of the 50th Vinitaly. He was welcomed by the President of Veronafiere, Maurizio Danese and the CEO & Director General, Giovanni Mantovani.
It is 16:38 and Vinitaly 2016 is drawing to a close…till next year Salute!
