The inscrutable and audacious Travelling Gourmet TM goes to the Grand Hyatt Singapore on Scotts Road to taste…

MARVELLOUS wines in A Matter of Taste by Robert Parker who used to own the Wine Advocate magazine. I was most delighted to meet my dear friend, Monica Larner who now writes for Wine Advocate on Italian wines and is based in Roma, the Eternal City. We go back a long way…Between tasting German Riselings and Brunello di Montalcino and scoffing Parmigiano Cheese from a wheel, I bumped into another very special friend, Giorgio Ferrari, Giorgio is a really nice gentleman and his comapany, Giorgio Ferrari Pte. Ltd, imports premium Iberico Ham, Proscuitto di Parma and of course Wines and more Wines!

Held in the Gallery on level 2, the event was very well attended with wine lovers tasting numerous very good wines from diverse countries. Champagne, the King of Wines and Wine of Kings was also on offer for tasting. Champagne Tarlant Cuvee Louis NV with its brioche notes was most pleasant on the palate. A German Riesling I liked that was fresh and youthful despite being 5 years old was the Joh. Jos. Pruem   2011 Riesling Kabinett. Ti be brutally frank, which is not my usual style, it is very hard to find a bad German Riesling, nicht wahr!

Yes, more food and wines tonight…it is a very tough job being The Travelling Gourmet TM but somebody has to do it! Cheers! Keep calm and carry on drinking!
