The indomitable and intrepid Travelling Gourmet TM visits the…
MULTI-AWARDED 5 Star Resort in the Pearl of the Orient, which is none other than the Shangri-La Rasa Sayang Resort in Batu Ferringhi. This huge property is as luxurious as it is comfortable to stay in. This is no quirky “Design Hotel” but old school opulence and luxury. I confess without duress that this always appeals to me no end…The only drawback is its distance from the hipster Cafes and shopping plazas of Georgetown, the capital of Pulau Pinang or Penang. Fear not! They also have a “hipster” Café/Wine Bar/Tapas Bistro and all round super trendy Fun Interactive Play or FIP Lounge. This is one hell of an upmarket trendy “hipster” place! I love it! No paint peeling off the walls her or broken furniture (done on purpose I believe to get that effect), just no holds barred nouveau chic! No wonder it is standing room only during the weekends. There is a pool table for billiards and a dart board too! I like the Gorilla which I fondly call “Son of King Kong”! Lots of interesting backdrops for “selfies” (how I hate that word!” aka auto-photos to show off to your followers and friends! I was very happy to lunch with my buddy Suleiman who is as humble as he is kind and charming. Not many know that his father was the First Prime Minister and Founding Father of Malaysia, Tunku Abdul Rahman. Apart from his busy schedule in the Shangri-La Group, Suleiman takes time to do good works in an admirable NGO that promotes UNITY among all.
