MEDIA Launch of Tapendium in-room tablet in the Fullerton and Fullerton Bay Hotels. Tapendium is a composite word made up from “Tap” and “Compendium”. Guests in the Fullertons hotels can now get Hotel Info, order In-Room Dining, use Guest Services like ask the Concierge to help with the luggage or order a Mercedes limousine, get the weather forecast, order a Buckwheat or Micro-Gel pillow from the Pillow Menu and more! It is now digital and paperless! All rooms now have a Samsung tablet which the guests can use. As mio amico, Giovanni Viteralle, the GM of the Fullerton hotels explained, “We’re the first hotels in Asia to have this in our rooms! Our guest satisfaction has increased. At the touch of a button on screen our guest scan order room service, make a dining reservation and many other things. We also reduce paper for the environment and manpower to talk to the guests on the phone, as well as increase revenue”. Affable Giovanni is from the Costiera Amalfitana (Amalfi Coast) in ITaly and goes back every year in the summer so he does not lose his Italian touch…

So much information at my fingertips…
I tried out the Tapendium Samsung in-room tablet and found it to be user-friendly. When I went to order Room Service Dining and clicked on the Town Signature Beef Burger, I could choose the ‘doneness’, add cheese, select my condiments, etc…and it even had recommendations for a glass of Tiger Beer to go with the burger! Using Nox hardware, the data is secure and each tablet costs the hotels about $560 with the hotels paying a monthly software licence per month to Tapendium. Tapendium is an Australian company that started in 2014, and the CEO, affable Steve Wooding told me of his expereinece as a hotelier previously with the Whitbread group in the UK plus the Crown Hotels and Casinos of Australia. After the Launch, there was coffee and scrumptious Salmon canapes on brown bread, Mini Burger Sliders, Chicken Rice Balls and Lime Macarons! Alas there was no champagne but I enjoyed all these munchies in the high-ceilinged Presidential Suite number 225, which has an area of 2,169 square feet with a baby grand piano, plus a glass enclosed verandah with 20 feet high Doric columns…and costs S$6,880++ per night…The digital revolution has begun…nicht wahr… 🙂
