LOve for Wines and La Dolce Vita in VINITALY!

Just before VINITALY The Travelling Gourmet TM woke up to my alarm on my Breitling at 06:00…to go and visit some very historic sights of VERONA>>>

Day 2 of VINITALY in Verona the city of Romeo and Juliet

A day in the life of THE TRAVELLING GOURMET TM…

06:00 My ever reliable Breitling alarm rings to wake me. I like an early start and do well on 4 hours of sleep every day. Former British Prime Minister Margaret “Iron Lady” Thatcher and General Stanley McChrystal, former Commander of US and Allied Forces in Afghanistan…all sleep about 4 hours a day. They say: sleep is for the dead. Then we all sleep “The Big Sleep”.

The warm sun is up and it looks like a very beautiful day..Blue skies! First a quick jog around the neighbourhood and then to the Gym in the HOtel Expo whihc has a man sized punching dummy. Keep calm and use Krav Maga! Wahahahah!

After a jolly good breakfast it is off soon to VINITALY for more hard work…wine and food tasting…It is a tough job being the Travelling Gourmet TM…but somebody has to do it 🙂

VINITALY is getting bigger and bigger and so on the way into Veronafiere there are big jams of cars and buses. I am based in a nice 4 Star hotel in Villafranca called Hotel Expo where the GM is my friend.

First stop at the International Buyers’ Lounge to fortify myself with a hot espresso! Then I  visited Maculan and the owner Fausto Maculan for some salami and wine…a light Vespaiolo like the summer breeze.

On next to see a dear freind Chiara Lungarotti of the famous Lungarotti wines of Torgiano. Chiara told me her son, Giovanni is turning 11 and we tasted her best wines which was really lovely. My favourite is the Rubesco. i also tried their red Passito dessert wine which is most unique.
