The indomitable and irrepressible Travelling Gourmet TM reveals that…

MANDARIN Orchard’s celebrated Chatterbox Chicken Rice is now available for delivery and takeaway! Well, it is all due to the horrible China virus from Wuhan damaging the world’s economy and killing thousands, that we have to thank for this. If Spanish flu can be called Spanish flu then let us call a spade a spade, nicht wahr! Chatterbox is closed from April 7, 2020 to May 4, 2020 because of the Singapore government’s circuit breaking measures to combat the malevolent China virus.

I decided to order this after hearing about it and it is on 50% discount just for a short time. Well, at least I can savour it in the charming comfort of my own home.

Only delivery and takeaway at present…

Tapow Chatterbox Chicken Rice at home!

To be brutally frank, Chatterbox Chicken Rice is the “haute cuisine” of Chicken Rice, arguably the best in Singapore…One of my all time favourites. I was even handpicked some years ago to be a Judge in their Chatterbox Chicken Rice Eating Contest! The Chef who actually put it on the menu years ago is mein guter Freund Executive Chef Peter Gehrmann, who is now in Hawaii, and has become a vegetarian!

After I plated the dish…it looks more appetising! Food styling by Dr. Michael Lim The Travelling Gourmet TM 🙂

Master Chef Liew Tian Heong’s chicken is still juicy and succulent! The takeaway chicken has a mix of breast meat and dark thigh meat. The rice is still yummie and fragrant with hints of Pandan and lovely chicken flavours infused! The rice is not oily and is actually cooked in chicken stock with Pandanus leaves and ginger. The myriad flavours of this iconic dish is enhanced with the thick gooey Dark Soya Sauce and Ginger sauce. PLus of course,  the spicy Chilli Sauce with that Oomph! Bon appetit!

When it reopens…then this is what you will get when you dine in Chatterbox! Let it be soon please! Let us combat and defeat the horrible wuhan virus from China!!! We will win!!!
